As Christmas approaches, we thought it might be fun to take a sleigh ride back in time and examine how Christmas seasons in Chatham-Kent were celebrated at various times in our history.

Those earlier recorded times showed Christmas wasn’t as materialistic as today’s.

In the 1850s, when the town of Chatham had about 1,000 souls and the county of Kent was a smattering of little pockets of population, the Christmas season was viewed quite differently.
