Outrage is defined as a strong reaction of anger or indignation. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, it is an act that violates accepted standards of behaviour or taste.

Given the current rudeness extant in society, it’s little wonder the Oxford dictionary chose “rage bait” as its word(s) of the year.

The synonyms of outrage include fury, disapproval, wrath, shock, resentment, horror, disgust or amazement. Some words don’t appear to accurately reflect the visceral feeling of outrage.
