The socialist takeover of the Democratic Party officially came to the Midwest this week when the son of Egyptian immigrants, Abdul el Sayed, eked out a narrow victory over establishment candidate Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) in the primary race to succeed retiring Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI).

El Sayed had released internal polling numbers showing him up by double digits over Stevens days before the campaign ended, but it appears el Sayed’s focus on the demonization of Israel was not as appealing to traditional Democratic primary voters as he had hoped.

To be sure, the white, college-educated voters of Kent and Washtenaw counties overwhelmingly chose el Sayed by almost 20 points, but the more traditional working-class counties of Wayne and Monroe went for Stevens, although by much smaller margins.........
