The Welsh Government has announced a new timetable for easing lockdown rules in Wales with some restrictions being eased earlier than previously announced.

As part of the new timetable set to be confirmed by First Minister Mark Drakeford on Friday, exercise classes will be able to resume indoors at gyms from May 3 as well as swimming lessons.

Indoor supervised activities, such as soft play and children's classes, will also be able resume on May 3 two weeks earlier than planned and community centres will be allowed reopen.

All of these activities had been due to be allowed again from May 17 but will now be allowed from May 3.

The Welsh Government said that relaxing all of these restrictions would mean that Wales would be fully in what it describes as the Alert Level 3 category by May 3 - two weeks earlier than expected.

First Minister Mark Drakeford will give a press conference announcing all the changes at 12.15pm in Cathays Park on Friday, April 23.

This is the Welsh Government's formal three-weekly review of the lockdown restrictions. The following one will not be until May 13 - after the Senedd election - when it will be led by the newly-elected Welsh Government.

While it will be a matter for any new Government to decide, the current administration says that it would hope to open indoor hospitality from May 17, along with all remaining tourist accommodation, indoor attractions........
