Having wealth doesn’t solve all your problems – it just gives you a different set of problems. Ones that aren’t always easy to find answers to because (for obvious reasons) most financial content focuses on helping you accumulate wealth, not what happens once you’re there.
Today, I’m giving you a glimpse into some of the conversations I have with higher net-worth clients.
‘It’s never enough. I keep chasing more’
The problem: You can see you have more than enough. You don’t “need” more. Yet, you keep setting the bar higher. Nothing wrong with this per se – except that you never feel satisfied. You achieve one milestone, and quickly you’re onto the next.
Perspective shift: There are different “modes” of achievement. One mode is to strive towards an external goal to try and satisfy something internal. You work towards X because you hope you will finally feel Y when you get there (e.g. powerful, successful, validated, etc).
The problem is – this is fundamentally rooted in “not-enoughness”. You think the external thing will fill the internal lack – but it can’t. So, you keep raising the bar, hoping the next milestone might.
Beyond a certain point, money just becomes........
