Bad Bunny Is Redefining Pop Culture and Taking Over the Super Bowl — Will the Grammys Keep Up?

When Harry Styles took home the Grammy for album of the year at the 2023 ceremony, his fellow nominee, Bad Bunny, didn’t think he had been snubbed. And why would he? His album, the chart- topping “Un Verano Sin Ti,” was already a big winner in multiple ways: It was the first Spanish-language album ever to be nominated in the top category, and it was also the most commercially successful record of 2022, according to IFPI, making him the first Latino to receive that trade organization’s Global Chart Award.

Still, his perception of the loss said a lot: “Maybe they weren’t ready for a Spanish-language album to win the big prize,” he told Vanity Fair the following year. “I didn’t even feel like [album of the year] had been stolen from me until the media started saying [it], and I saw that everybody thought I deserved the prize and everybody thought it was a robbery… That’s when they kind of convinced me and I said, ‘Well, yes, it was a robbery then.’”
