So President Donald Trump’s Justice Department has launched an investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for … you know … "reasons" and such. Totally legit, I’m sure. Just a normal case of the boss telling the guy in charge of the money, “Hey, maybe you should do exactly what I say, right? Or maybe we find a way to pop you in the slammer. I dunno, you decide.”

Well, because we live in a world of weenies, Powell came out with a stool-pigeon statement saying:

“The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Federal Reserve setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President. This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions ‒ or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation.”

Oh, dear, somebody call the WHAAAAAAAmbualnce, it looks like Powell can’t handle a little perfectly legal extortion.

Worse yet, some members of the (GOP) family also got upset, with North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis........
