There may not be a red wave happening yet in California, but there might be a glimpse of a red tide.
California's election results are still rolling in from the June 2 primary. It could be a few weeks before all the votes, including mail-in ballots, are counted.
But in the Los Angeles mayor's race, incumbent Karen Bass failed to capture the 51% needed to win outright, forcing a runoff. Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt, a Republican, and City Council member Nithya Raman, a Democrat, are battling for the second spot. As of this writing, Pratt leads, and Raman would need a significant number of votes to catch up.
Republican Steve Hilton has a narrow lead over Democrat Xavier Becerra in the governor's race, though the final tally is still days away.
Still, if you had told me a few years ago that two Republicans running in major California races would garner even this much traction in a state long dominated by liberals and Hollywood elites, I wouldn't have believed you.
That Hilton and Pratt have secured as many votes as they have at this juncture suggests many Californians are fed up with the status quo after years of Democratic governance. Electing conservatives could be the best thing California residents could do to improve their........
