Americans need Congress to act quickly on health care. Will they?
The end of the year is fast approaching, and Congress appears to be stuck doing what it does best these days: nothing. No wonder its approval rating is in the dumps.
That’s a problem, as millions of Americans are waiting to see what lawmakers do when it comes to their health insurance costs.
The roughly 24 million people who purchase insurance through the Obamacare exchanges have benefited in recent years from boosted subsidies put in place during the Biden administration.
Those subsidies – which were supposed to be a temporary COVID-19 lifeline – are set to expire Dec. 31, and premiums could double on average for these plans.
For Americans who are already worried about high costs and inflation, this uncertainty is causing a lot of stress.
