Although much has changed since the first modern-day Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896, one thing that has remained constant is an athlete’s pursuit for the medals table in the name of their nation.

During the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, which is underway now and closes on Aug. 11, approximately 10,500 athletes are competing in 329 events. And with 1,000 medals on the line, the race to see which country brings home the most medals – which this Olympics contain original pieces of iron from the Eiffel Tower – is on.
