We're Very Lucky That the Dems Are So Dumb Right Now
First, no, I’m not wallowing in triumphalism here: this is going to be a close election. If we manage to pull it off, the Republicans will probably only hold a five-to-eight seat majority in the next session. For now, the days of large double-digit majorities are gone. But Democrats started as a party that likely felt very confident about a strong midterm year, given historical trends in which the party in power usually loses seats. Self-inflicted wounds have jeopardized that, and in Senate and House races, there’s been some shenanigans. Republicans have their own troublemakers, too, but I don’t think the party establishment predicted a Maoist insurgency, a worsened brand crisis, and a lack of an agenda. It’s all about Trump, and Democrats have just shown they won’t do anything to address affordability.
It’s all about investigating Trump, not actually impeaching him — like that makes a difference. It doesn’t. It’ll be a treasure hunt to find something, no matter how small,........
