Jake Tapper brought on retired General Charles Moore to discuss the activity involving Operation Epic Fury, and the host was seemingly bothered by the fact that we as a country, along with Israel, had eliminated much of the leadership in Iran. Jake seemed to think we had committed a tactical error, but his expert put him in the correct place:
TAPPER: “Was it necessary to kill the top 49 leaders of Iran, including Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme leader?" GEN. MOORE: “I think it was a very wise move for a couple of reasons. First, anytime you can decapitate leadership in the government and military organizations, you put the whole country, the entire apparatus, in a state of upheaval. They don't know what's going on. It's extremely difficult for them to execute command and control, to have any type of synchronization or integration of their forces."

So yes, Jake – eliminating the despots was actually a positive move.

Each year, we give out trophies in the categories from this column for The Heckler Awards. It can be safe to say that, even though we just entered March, Bill Kristol is the leader in the clubhouse for this category.
That he is complaining bitterly about the attack on Iran is not a shocker. That was more than expected.
But the hilarity is that this being Billy’s default reaction means that he is now in defiance of himself. It was just back in January when he was defying the Greenland discussion and suggested that Trump should instead focus on freeing the Iranian people. This is simply magnificent.

Anti-Social Media – THE NEW YORK TIMES
We are not clear how this affected mission success…
We are not clear how this affected mission success…
When the news broke of the attack on Iran, among the numerous complaints the press wielded was that President Trump oversaw the mission while at Mar-a-Lago. Another side critique by Peter Baker was that not only was the president in Florida at the time, but he did not even make the effort to beat cheeks back to the White House.
After Trump launched a new war on Iran, he did not rush back to the White House or make an Oval Office address to rally the nation as other presidents have done. He stayed at Mar-a-Lago to attend a glitzy political fundraiser. @KannoYoungs https://t.co/OZgWtprJ13— Peter Baker (@peterbakernyt) March 1, 2026

To get a sense of how hollow this complaint from Baker is, try to imagine if the president had, in fact, done exactly that, Baker would have been filled with praise and support on the mission.

In a deeply surprising announcement, President Trump went on his Truth Social platform and announced that he would be attending this year’s White House Correspondents’ dinner.

It will be interesting to watch and see if any of the First Amendment supporters in the WHCA will boycott the affair, after complaining for years that Trump refused to attend.

Body Checking the Fact-Checkers – THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Thank you for this needed correction.
Thank you for this needed correction.
Following last week’s State of the Union speech, there was no shortage of fact-checks by those remaining journalistic trolls. We had this grand example that was a standout, but buried under all the Olympics/Iran coverage.
In his speech, President Trump had an inspiring passage referencing the 250th Anniversary of our independence. He brought up how that energy persists in the nation, saying that the spirit of the revolution persists to this day. You know, speaking metaphorically? Well, the AP is here to set the record straight:
CLAIM: “The revolution that began in 1776 has not ended. It still continues because the flame of liberty and independence still burns in the heart of every American patriot.”THE FACTS: To be clear, the American Revolution started the previous year, on April 19, 1775. The colonies declared independence in 1776. It ended Sept. 3, 1783.

Thank you, AP. We had been concerned that the revolution might still be ongoing, meaning we are, in fact, officially a nation.

This almost sounds like sexism travels in one direction.

After a full week of the press working to do everything it could to poison the celebration of the USA Hockey Teams, and to drive a wedge between the men's and women’s squads, there was an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Players from both teams appeared for the opening, and Hillary had a joke about coming on the show and deciding it would be a good idea to invite the men on as well. It was a nice dig on the claims of misogyny from President Trump during his call in the locker room, but it also brought an end to the hysterics.
My, would you look at that: You can make a sexist joke at the expense of the men, and nobody is melting down over the slight. The move to getting “revenge” managed to expose the emptiness of the outrage.
