Truth in Lies
Truth has no more weight than lies for much of the population.
When Kamala Harris was one fading heartbeat away from the presidency, she spoke to a group about the war in Gaza. A young woman in the crowd mentioned something about Israel committing genocide and the like, to which the thankfully former vice-president told her to “pursue her truth.” What does that mean? Isn’t there something called Truth, with a capital “T”? If she can follow “her truth” and everyone else can do the same, then how can we ever get to the same conclusions? The answer is that we cannot, and that is part of the problem that we face today in public discourse. Facts and “truth” mean nothing to people who start with their conclusions, whatever they are, and work backwards. Tucker Carlson can claim that Israel works against Christians, while Israel is the only country in the Middle East with a growing Christian population. He can claim that Qatar is awesome for Christians, while conversion to Christianity and public display of Christian symbols are strictly forbidden.
We are presented daily with demonstrable lies. It’s one thing to claim something that cannot........
