Editorial: Put more giving into Thanksgiving

Good health. A well-seasoned turkey. The company of relatives or dear friends you haven't seen in too long. A sofa for the perfect postprandial nap.

In a time of turmoil for the nation and the wider world, Thanksgiving presents us with a day to contemplate the things we can be grateful for.

Whether you're a third-grader or a senior citizen, it is worth remembering that the holiday had its origins in a day of feasting and recreation shared in 1621 by the members of the Plymouth Colony and the Wampanoag people in what would become Massachusetts. While the amity of that day would not last -- and this nation's treatment of Indigenous people has been a centuries-long stain on our history -- that harvest........
