Editorial: An Olympic return? Yes, please

Let us begin by noting that this editorial board would never express hope of a negative outcome befalling a worthy endeavor in another community, whether it's sited in some other corner of New York, the rest of the nation, or somewhere else on the planet. Such thoughts are both uncharitable and, for those who believe in the concept of karma, decidedly unwise.

So we wish the developers and construction workers of the northern Italian ski resort Cortina d’Ampezzo good luck — buona fortuna — as they hustle to complete upgrades to their century-old sliding sports facilities in time for the 2026 Winter Olympics, slated to kick off 14 months........
