Commentary: Free SUNY community college program opens doors for adult learners |

On campuses across New York, hundreds of thousands of students are settling in and starting the next chapter of their lives. Many of those students will say goodbye to their parents, leaving the cocoon of high school and homes they grew up in. But others will arrive at school after dropping off their own children so they can head to the classroom for the first time ā or after years away.
Adult learners have always been a part of our SUNY community. This year, adult learners pursuing degrees in high-demand fields will be able to attend SUNY community colleges for free.

The SUNY Reconnect program allows any New Yorker ages 25 to 55 who has never received a college degree to earn an associate degree in certain fields ā including advanced manufacturing; nursing and allied health; engineering; cybersecurity; and artificial intelligence ā with tuition, fees, books and supplies all........
