COLONIE — The Northway will soon have its Exit 3, ending one of the region’s little quirks.

Exit 1, Exit 2, Exit 4. Hey, what happened to three?

As Gov. Andrew Cuomo reminded us this week, when he came to the airport to tout the unfinished exit as one of the great achievements of humankind, Exit 3 has been in the works for a very long time. Five decades, in fact.

“How does it take 50 years to build Exit 3?” the governor asked.

A fair question. But left unsaid at the event attended by many of the local pooh-bahs was this: We should be happy, if not overjoyed,........
