Les Leyne: Party brass urge Rustad to quit, as amazing downhill run gains momentum
Seven more cars have piled into the train wreck that is the Conservative Party of B.C. as the management committee of the party urged Leader John Rustad to quit.
The committee members, many of them personally endorsed by Rustad in February, signed a letter to him saying they “cease to have confidence” in his leadership.
“We ask that you immediately step down as leader, allowing for a subsequent leadership contest to choose a new leader,” they wrote in a letter made public on Wednesday. They cited the “unprecedented level of turmoil that has engulfed our party” since the Oct. 19, 2024, election.
The letter said that leadership inevitably involves challenges, but “the constant and prolonged discord shows no sign of abating.”
