THE GOVERNMENT HAS announced excise cuts and a fuel allowance extension in an effort to support households amid the soaring cost of petrol, diesel and home heating oil amid the US and Israel’s war on Iran.

But opposition parties say the measures don’t go far enough, particularly when a record 320,000 households are already in arrears on their energy bills and food prices remain high.
