Three sentenced for Oct. 8 looting of belongings of Nova festival victims

Three people were sentenced on Monday for looting belongings abandoned at the Nova festival site in southern Israel on October 8, 2023, the day after the devastating Hamas-led massacre.

Liran Yakubov, Netanel Aviv and Oz Ruham, all from Beersheba, were fined and given prison terms of between 36 and 40 months, Hebrew media reported.

More than 370 people were slaughtered when Palestinian terrorists attacked the music festival, amid acts of kidnapping, extreme brutality and sexual violence, part of the wider assault on southern Israel. Others were taken hostage.

According to the indictment, Yakubov lied to security personnel at the site, which was a closed military zone, saying he lived nearby, so he could be allowed entrance.

Afterward, the three entered abandoned vehicles and attempted to open their trunks.

They stole a laptop, credit cards, ID cards, a bag containing NIS 13,000 and other property........
