A Chabad emissary who had been on life-support for two months after an accident that also drowned her baby daughter, died Wednesday night, the global outreach organization reported.
Henya Federman, 40, was left in a critical condition apparently after trying to save her child from the water in St. Thomas, part of the US Virgin Islands.
She was flown to the US mainland where she was treated at the Specialty Hospital of Central Jersey in Lakewood, until her death according to the Yeshiva World news website.
Federman, who was co-director of Chabad of St. Thomas, and her daughter Shterna Sarah, fell into the water in Oasis Cove Marina on November 29, while the family was on a boating outing, according to the reports at the time.
Henya jumped in to save her, and her husband, Rabbi Asher Federman, followed, the reports said.
Henya Federman was pulled from the water without a pulse. Emergency personnel were able to restore her heartbeat and took her to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she was put on life support.
Shortly afterward, the girl’s body was found in the water.

She is survived by her husband and 12 children aged from one to 17.
