American media personality Kim Kardashian spoke out Monday against hate and said she stood alongside the Jewish people, in her first public response to the backlash created by antisemitic remarks made by her ex-husband Kanye West, who now goes by the name Ye.

“Hate speech is never OK or excusable,” she said on Twitter. “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end,” she added, though she did not mention West or his connection to the post.

Her statement came just hours after she was spotted enjoying dinner with Ivanka Trump, daughter of former president Donald Trump and wife of Jared Kushner, senior adviser to her father while he was in office. Kushner and his wife are Jewish.

In a recent interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, West accused Kushner of brokering the 2020 Abraham Accords peace agreements between Israel and several Arab nations in order “to make money.”

He then had antisemitic outbursts across social media and in news interviews, including vowing to go “death con 3 on Jewish people,” claiming that he is the target of a “Jewish underground media mafia,” and that “Jewish people have owned the Black voice.” He was locked out of several social media accounts as a result of his comments.

Ivanka converted to Judaism in 2009 when she married Kushner, who was born to a Modern Orthodox Jewish family and attended a Jewish high school. Today, their three children also attend Jewish schools and they reportedly keep a kosher home and observe Shabbat.

On Saturday, English pop star Boy George said he was “appalled” by West’s recent comments and criticized Kardashian for not openly criticizing her ex-husband over the scandal.

In a video posted on Instagram, Boy George said he was “listening with great sadness to the antisemitic comments coming out of Kanye West’s mouth” and that he was “kind of appalled that not more artists have come out and spoke against what he’s saying.”

“I’m appalled that Kim Kardashian hasn’t come out and added her voice to this debate, because this woman has children with Kanye, so she must understand as a mother what it feels like for little Jewish children to hear these f***ing comments, how demoralizing and terrifying it must be,” he said.

In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan that aired last week, West defended his remarks, but said he was sorry that they caused pain to some.

“I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the confusion that I caused. I feel like I caused hurt and confusion and I’m sorry for the families of the people that have nothing to do with the trauma that I had been through,” he said.

Asked by Morgan whether he still loved Kardashian, to whom he was married for six years, he said, “absolutely, I’ll love her for life,” later adding: “We’ll always be together. She dresses exactly like me.”
