Two people were killed in a car crash along Route 90 in the West Bank Saturday, police and medics said.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the collision, between the Beit Ha’arava and Lido junctions, to find a crash involving three vehicles, according to a statement by the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

A 31-year-old Palestinian was critically injured in one of the cars and taken to Hadassah Medical Center at Mount Scopus in Jerusalem while medics tried to revive him, but doctors declared him dead after his arrival.

A 71-year-old Israeli Jerusalem resident who was critically injured and taken to the hospital was also later declared dead. He was traveling in a car with his wife, who was lightly injured in the crash.

Two other people were lightly hurt in the third car and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said they have opened an investigation into the incident.

According to the latest data from the National Road Safety Authority, 142 people have been killed on Israel’s roads since the beginning of 2023.
