A 17-year-old was indicted on Sunday for allegedly raping a 2-year-old girl and sexually assaulting a 9-year-old in Beit Shemesh.
The charges were filed after police announced Friday they arrested two teenage residents of the city for allegedly sexually abusing a toddler related to one of them, in a case they described as “especially cruel and shocking.”
The second suspect, the toddler’s 16-year-old uncle, approached police earlier last week to give testimony.
According to the indictment, the main suspect asked the second teen to bring his niece from daycare to an abandoned building, where he raped, sodomized, and performed other indecent acts on her on two separate occasions.
Prosecutors are expected to file charges against the uncle — who was present during the acts and is currently under house arrest — in the coming days.
According to the indictment, the accused also offered NIS 10 ($3) to a 9-year-old boy in exchange for sexual contact.
The teen sexually abused the child until he asked him to stop.
The accused faces charges of nonconsensual sodomy of a minor under 16 while in the presence of another, performing indecent acts on a minor under 16 while in the presence of another, and indecent acts on a minor under 14.
Prosecutors have requested that the court order the suspect kept in custody until the end of legal proceedings.
“In all my years as an investigator and officer in the police, I have not been exposed to a case so inhumane and without mercy,” a police officer investigating the case said Friday.
