To Rick Caruso: Stand With Us |
The Jewish community has stood by you for years. We have supported your businesses, from The Grove to Palisades Village, and we stood with you during difficult moments, including after the fires. That support has always come from a place of respect and shared commitment to Los Angeles.
Today, we are asking you to stand with us.
This is not a routine political moment. The Jewish community in Los Angeles is facing a clear and escalating threat—rising antisemitism, increased security risks at synagogues, and growing hostility toward our families and children. These are real conditions, not perceptions, and they are getting worse.
We have already seen what happens when leadership fails to act early. In cities like London and New York, what began as isolated incidents evolved into a broader erosion of safety. Communities that once felt secure are now forced to live with heightened fear, increased security measures, and a sense that their concerns were dismissed until it was too late.
Los Angeles is at risk of following that same path if decisive leadership is not put in place now.
This is why your voice matters.
While you chose not to run for mayor, there is a candidate in this race who represents the kind of leadership that prioritizes safety, accountability, and the protection of vulnerable communities. Spencer Pratt is seen by many as that candidate, and importantly, he has a real path to victory.
The alternative is not theoretical. The rise of candidates aligned with ideologies that minimize or excuse hostility toward our community would have serious consequences. This is not just about policy differences—it is about whether Los Angeles remains a city where people feel safe practicing their faith, raising their families, and contributing to society without fear.
Los Angeles has been built, in large part, by the Jewish community—across real estate, Hollywood, business, and civic leadership. That legacy is not just history; it is a living part of what makes this city function and thrive. Allowing that foundation to weaken due to a failure of leadership would be a profound mistake.
Your support and backing could help prevent Los Angeles from becoming another example of a city that waited too long to act. It could help ensure that we address these challenges now—before they escalate further and become far more difficult to contain.
This is not a political favor. It is a moment of responsibility.
We are asking you to stand with a community that has stood with you, and to use your influence to help protect the safety, stability, and future of Los Angeles.
That is what leadership looks like. That is tikkun olam—taking action to repair and protect the world around us.
We hope you will lead.
