Justice Speaks Louder Than Slander
A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog titled Echoes of Loyalty: When Nuance Becomes Betrayal. In it, I shared something deeply personal. I wrote about how devastated I was after learning that a dog had been brutally abused during a raid on the Palestinian village of Atara near Ramallah. The footage was horrifying. The suffering of that animal affected me more than many political controversies ever could.
Animals are innocent. They do not choose sides. They do not carry ideologies. They do not spread propaganda or harbor political ambitions. They simply exist, trusting humans to treat them with care. When that trust is violated, it strikes me at the core of my being.
Perhaps that is why the incident shook me so profoundly. Seeing an Israeli involved in such cruelty felt like a betrayal of the values I have spent years defending. For a moment, I questioned everything. I knew intellectually that one criminal does not represent an entire nation, but emotionally I struggled. I found myself wondering whether I was fighting for the wrong side if such acts could occur without consequences.
Today, I am relieved, and even proud, to say that justice has spoken.
