Where is it written in the Torah to be normal?

Thirty years ago, I was new in the country. I crossed at a pedestrian crossing, and a sports car had to brake for me. The driver shouted through the open window, ‘Are you normal?’ I replied, ‘Thank G^d, no.’ I think he’s still standing there with his mouth open.

Judaism doesn’t command us to ‘be normal.’ It does advise us the opposite, to be authentic. The Ark of the Ten Commandments is on the inside and on the outside covered with gold. Why the inside, which no one sees? The Rabbis explain that we should follow its example. We shouldn’t be hypocrites, super holy........
