Recognition of Somaliland is about more than diplomatic status. It would give Israel and its partners a reliable foothold near one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, support a stable democratic partner in the Horn of Africa, and align international policy with political realities that have existed for decades. The question is no longer whether Somaliland is perfect, but whether continued non-recognition serves the strategic interests of Israel and its allies.

If Israel formally recognized Somaliland, it would transform informal ties into an official partnership with implications for the United States, Europe, and Abraham Accords countries. Somaliland presents a rare combination of strategic geography, political stability, and openness to cooperation that merits thoughtful consideration.
