Requiem for Those Who Remain with Us
Requiem for Those Who Remain with Us
Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026
Requiem for those who remain with us.
So many thoughts, yet no words will suffice,
No matter how many have been written
As there are no graves and no tombstones.
Will they remain with future generations?
As survivors tell their narratives,
Their stories reverberate; they live on.
Thus, our roots have wings as their chorus resounds.
Six million is just a number,
If each individual person does not count.
May each person today retain one story;
And recall and tell for each to remain.
Then, it is not a statistic but a life,
Recalled, with dreams, hopes and aspirations
That do not fade but stay for history
To live within and through each one of us.
In memory of all those individuals lost to families, including the following names of those associated with the families:
Herzig, Schiff, Goldman; Bergstein, Porter, Schorr, Shore, David, Czarsky, Goldstein, Even Zahav, Drucker, Kraminer; Suchen, Seidman; Herman, Rudnikoff, Baron; Wiesenthal, Ephrati; Rubel, Berri; Cuperfain; Steinfeld, Frankl;
Korda, Schneerson , Lowy, Ackerman, Tieder; Leneman, Deitcher; Cotler, Gewurz, Lipper, Lowell, Sarna, Wogodny, Braun, Rudner, Tobias, Margo, in addition to special mention of twenty thousand, amongst others sent to Buchenwald associate camps, Langenstein, Zwieberg and all other infamous sites.
Also, may the stories of the Armenians, Roma, Tibetans, Tutsis, Cambodians, Darfuri, Rohingya, Bahai, Yazidis, Bosniaks, the Herero and Namaqua, Indigenous tribes, Jehova witnesses, Uyghurs and all others in every land and religion be told for history to live; And one day for no one else to be lost to a number.
Those passed on, in each generation world-wide, may they live in their descendants; may a new day, in a new world dawn with their lives no longer a number, lost to annals of history…
May all their memories be blessed in us and through us.
