Canadians support Israel – don’t listen to our PM

I was taking a break from my TOI Blog, but wish to express the support for Israel that I and many Canadians share.   We send our care and concern and charitable support and prayers to our friends and colleagues in Israel.  We are watching the news too.  We are with you in spirit, every step of the way.

Our Canadian Liberal government and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and various ministers have been speaking in different voices to different audiences about the current conflict with Iran and Lebanon.  They support Israel, but…..

They explain this by suggesting that the Liberal Party is a ‘big tent’ with room for many opinions.   And Canada is a democracy with room for many opinions, including mine and those of many Canadians, especially within the Jewish and Iranian communities, who support this military action in the urgent need to pre-empt future Islamist repression and terrorism and nuclear and missile attacks from Iran.  Why is that so hard to understand?  Has our Liberal party totally sold out to its Islamist base?

Old hack Canadian Liberal politicians like Lloyd Axworthy and Bob Rae have been given media airspace along with our censorious Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand urging all parties to return to the negotiating table and use diplomatic rather than military means to resolve this conflict.  As if that ever helped at all.

Perhaps PM Carney is correct in asserting that we have moved beyond the rule of law into a new world order.  It’s called realpolitik.  It’s been around for awhile.

Israel has always known the need to defend itself from its enemies even in the face of disapproving world or UN opinion.  Canada doesn’t really matter much in that equation.  Take that into account.  Israel’s defense forces and intelligence capabilities are the envy of the world.  Canada’s?  Not so much.  To put it politely.

Canada compensates in empty verbal disapproval for its real lack of military might and global influence and power, or tries to lobby fellow ‘middle powers’ to join their anti-Israel critiques.  It’s so predictable, and so pathetic.

Diplomacy failed for decades.  Israelis and Jewish Canadians have been suffering the effects of unrestrained Islamist terrorist attacks and their ideological front groups and escalating harassment and hate crimes in Canada, not to mention unscreened immigration from countries hostile to Jews, Israel, human rights and democracy, and unschooled in all of these.  Oh.  Canaduh.

Isn’t terrorism a violation of international law?  Just wondering.  Why do they excuse it and appease it?  To cover up their failures?  Maybe.  They are not Jews.  Maybe that’s why they don’t see it.  But we do.  Let’s remind them.  Jews have been serving our country lawfully and with distinction for over 150 years and remain our most educated, law abiding and economically productive demographic, despite our small numbers in the electorate.  Wise up, goyim!

No one likes war, and Canada as a ‘middle power’ with no involvement in this conflict seems to be overly involved in criticizing Israel and the US.  Canada, if you are not involved or influential in this conflict, please stay out of it and let the grownups do the real work of protecting Israel and western democracies and the region from Islamist repression and terrorism.   Those who can, do, and those who can’t, whine like white Canadians, apparently.  To no avail.

This approach is linked to broader issues of Canadian politics and our questionable foreign policy and ‘deep state’ bureaucracy that has often sought to appease Islamist terrorists rather than confronting them.  At the same time, Canada holds a naive belief in the anti-Israel UN (which Canada helped to form) and ‘international law’ (which Canada reveres and regards Israel as violating by its continued occupation of the West Bank).  Sad, isn’t it?

In its continued biased and milquetoast diplomacy favoring enemies of Israel, Canada rewarded Iran-funded ‘pay for slay’ Hamas and Fatah and Islamic Jihad terrorists by recognizing ‘Palestine’ which has failed to recognize Israel and proposes rule by anti-democratic Islamist Sharia law in its draft constitution.  One hopes the Liberal Canadian Muslim electorate is pleased.  No one else is. The craven corruption and hypocrisy of this Liberal government claiming to speak in terms of ‘international law’ boggles the mind.

Pay no attention to these Canadian hypocrites and terrorist appeasers, no matter how sleek they look in their business suits and international conferences.  Right now they are busy currying favor among fellow ‘middle powers’ also less than supportive of Israel and strangely tolerant of escalating anti-semitic hate crimes, like Britain, the EU, Australia, and others.  Shame on them.  Israel and the US are our valued allies.  But Canada dilutes this by seeking other partners.

Give our Canadian leaders the lack of attention they deserve – if they can ignore home grown Islamist terrorism and antisemitic hate crimes, we can ignore them too.  More of us should.  Many of us already do.  Everyone complains about politicians but no one does anything about them!  More of us should, legally, by getting involved politically and voting them out of office, and telling them off, in no uncertain terms.

One wishes for the clear-sighted days of our former Conservative PM Stephen Harper, an ardent supporter of Israel, but those days are gone.

I would love to stay and chat, but we are busy dealing with neo-Nazis in our backyard, including on our local police force, in a city with Canada’s highest national rate of hate crimes per capita against all minorities.

Stay well and strong, Israel.  We support you and send our love from Canada.
