I walked out of the Adam Goodes' doco an angry man

Walking out of the Capitol Theatre after the premiere of The Final Quarter , the documentary about the booing that marred Adam Goodes' final seasons, I was angry. I was angry at what happened to my former teammate, and mentor, Adam Goodes. I was angry at the likes of Eddie McGuire, Sam Newman and Miranda Devine who fuelled the fire of casual racism in Australia. I was angry with the AFL for not doing more at the time. And I was angry with myself for not recognising racism enough.

Over the final three years of Adam’s career I wish I had done more. I heard the booing. We all did. It was relentless and it was sickening. It was so persistent that it was clearly motivated by something other than what was happening on the field. But Adam put on such a brave........
