I went to Silver Lake Park on Thursday afternoon to jog.
I figured that four days after Sunday’s snowfall, it would be completely safe to get my exercise in there.
Not so much.
The path I usually use from Forest Avenue into the park looked like it hadn’t been shoveled or salted.
The path was snowy and icy and was additionally slippery and treacherous because there had been some melt due to higher temperatures.
A gentleman walking his dog called out to me that I should walk on the snowier areas next to the asphalt pathway. The footing there was noticeably more secure.
The short staircase down to the actual park was still crusty with ice, however, much as it had been when I’d visited the park a day or two after the storm.
But at least some work had been done in the park by Thursday, with the path at the bottom of the staircase, running parallel to Forest Avenue, cleared and salted.
So I began to run........
