Even if Biden bows out, replacing him as the candidate against Trump won’t be easy (opinion)

President Joe Biden at last seems to know how calamitous his debate performance against former President Donald Trump was.

A report in the New York Times says that Biden told a top ally that he is weighing whether to continue the race.

Biden, 81, is said to have acknowledged that if he stumbles again at campaign events in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin this weekend, the end could be nigh.

The White House said that the report was “absolutely false.”

But even if Biden pulls the plug, he won’t be easy to replace at the top of the ticket.
