The $15 congestion pricing tax is going to be a bitter pill for a lot of New Yorkers.
But some in the five boroughs are finding the program harder and harder to swallow, especially beleaguered drivers and commuters from Staten Island.
The MTA the other day announced that as part of a pilot program tied to congestion pricing, it will offer a 10% reduction on the price of monthly commuter rail tickets within New York City.
That means that commuters who ride the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North will get a break.
The discount is supposed to encourage those riders to leave their cars home and take mass transit in order to avoid paying the $15 fee that motorists will have to fork over to enter Manhattan below 60th Street.
