What’s in Donald Trump’s Next Navy Budget? Here’s a Breakdown

The new ships the Trump administration seeks to build will form the core of the president’s proposed “Golden Fleet” in the years to come.

The Trump administration is spending big on the military, with a proposed defense budget of $1.5 trillion for next year.  

As part of that massive spending plan, the US Navy is requesting one of its largest budgets in history, with the goal of restoring its supremacy of the seas at a time when Chinese shipyards are pumping out warships.  

$378 Billion Can Buy a Lot of Ships!

For Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27), the Navy has requested $377.5 billion, broken down into $338.7 billion in discretionary funds and $38.8 billion in mandatory funds. This request is $70.9 billion, or 23.1 percent, higher than the FY26 request.

“This budget ensures our Navy and Marine Corps are postured to defend the homeland and deter adversaries by making the generational investments required to deliver real usable capability to our Sailors and Marines at a warfighting pace,” the Navy wrote in its budget........
