Certainty searches for guarantees and, as such, is the psychological foundation upon which we build decisions; a conviction so secure that action becomes not merely possible, but inevitable. Certainty is the fuel for courage and the endpoint of inquiry. Uncertainty is its shadow and the recognition of our own limitations. Uncertainty acknowledges that our knowledge is fragmented, our predictions imperfect, and the future a shifting landscape. Uncertainty is not an absence of knowledge; it is an acute awareness of that absence. It is the space where possibilities breathe, where outcomes are not predetermined, and where humans are humbled.

Nowhere is the chessboard more consequential than in international affairs, where a single miscalculation becomes catastrophe. The ongoing Iran conflict is a case in point. One side decries existential aggression; the other terms its actions as justified pre-emption. Each claims the moral high ground, yet reality is a brutal, senseless mess where victory remains undefined. The duplicity is astonishing: the Islamabad MoU, signed with great ceremony as a testament to peace, was rendered obsolete by artillery fire the next morning. A piece of paper signed, a war began. Ukraine seems a stalemate of trenches and propaganda, with no end in sight, only the grim certainty of more graves.
