Evolving Geopolitical Architecture |
The global geopolitical, geostrategic and geoeconomic environments are in a state of massive flux. The prevailing perceptions in the international arena are that despite its global strategic reach and colossal economy, the US’ sphere of influence is contracting rapidly and it is likely to withdraw west of the Atlantic, rather sooner than later. It is considered a waning global power. Europe’s military, geopolitical and economic clouts continue to decline sharply. It is taken as a spent force. Russia stays outrageously defiant in global affairs, especially in its war against Ukraine. It appears resolute in its geopolitical ambitions. China remains steadfast, stoic, unfazed and ascendant in all geopolitical, geoeconomic and geostrategic dimensions. Its meteoric rise and expanding sphere of influence appear unstoppable. This state of affairs is further accentuated by the perceived challenge posed by the Sino-Russian strategic partnership to US’ domination of the world.

It is in this geopolitical milieu that the US has come up with its latest National Security Strategy (NSS). It is based upon a realistic assessment of global geopolitical, geostrategic and geoeconomic imperatives, the threats that the US perceives to its hegemonic dominance of the globe and the manner in which it intends to deal with them.
The desired end state of US policy has not changed in essence, however the ways and means to attain it are likely to undergo some fine tuning in line with the evolving geopolitical environment. The desired end state will thus be to........
