The healthcare system is one of the major sectors of the country, connected to every individual in society. While inflation and education top the list of public concerns, health issues are equally critical. For this reason, governments have consistently treated public health as a priority. Campaigns are launched, and World Health Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm every April. However, very little is actually done to improve Pakistan’s healthcare system. Government priorities shift over time, and health crises continue to grow rather than decline. Whether it is the construction of new hospitals, the revamping of existing facilities, efforts to prevent viral diseases, or the appointment of doctors and staff on merit, much of this work remains incomplete. The current government also claims to provide healthcare at people’s doorsteps, yet these promises remain largely unrealised.
