The New Year 2026 has begun with several serious new events, most of them unexpected. In the time we live in, conflicts and events are sometimes more for the media than for the people affected, and many times this goes too far. The Greenland conflict, mainly between the USA and Denmark, has been puffed up considerably by the media, also because the American President, Donald Trump, uses the media, as it gives him new headlines again and again. It would have been better if there had been quiet talks between the parties—the USA and Denmark, not forgetting Greenland—and the other Nordic neighbours, while keeping the media out of it, since there is no real news anyway.

To begin with, one may ask whether it really matters if Greenland remains Danish, becomes fully independent, or becomes American. But that would be arrogant without asking the Greenlanders what they want, and it is my opinion that they do not want the USA to be their new........
