PIA Privatised

At long last, Pakistan International Airlines has found a buyer, with the government successfully completing the country’s first major privatisation in nearly two decades. The decision carries several implications. On one level, it brings to a close the chapter of PIA in its original form. As the national carrier, it was once a pioneer, connecting Pakistan to the world well before Gulf states emerged as global aviation and logistics hubs. That legacy, however, had long been overshadowed by mismanagement, mounting losses and institutional decay.

This transaction undoubtedly marks the end of an era, but it also opens the door to a second chapter.........
