A 15-year-old boy been arrested, accused of committing a criminal sexual act against a child under the age of 11.
The 15-year-old, who was not named because of his age, was arrested recently on a warrant out of the state of Florida, Fulton County Sheriff’s officials said Monday.
He was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, both by forcible compulsion and where the victim was less than 11 years old.
The teen was taken into custody Dec. 3 after an investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. He is accused of engaging in oral sexual contact with a 6-year-old victim by forcible compulsion in the timeframe of May and June 2024.
The teen was arraigned last week in Fulton County Court Youth Part and released to the custody of a parent. An order of protection was also issued. He is due back in court later. Additional charges are pending, officials said.
Assemblymember Angelo Santabarbara hosted a fraud prevention seminar at the M&T Bank Center on Monday afternoon, a reaction to the many phone calls the assemblymember said he received from constituents concerned about, and victims of, fraud, he said.
Education is one part of the solution; the other is using legislation to make it punishable, he said. Santabarbara recently introduced legislation that would penalize deceptive mail that looks like checks, refunds and rebates, but he said that’s just the start of what he has planned.
