EDITORIAL: Review process plan has merit, but use caution

One of the many criticisms of New York government when it comes to business and residential development is the high cost in money and time created by the state’s mass tangle of bureaucratic and regulatory red tape.

Gov. Kathy Hochul vowed to address that issue during her State of the State message on Tuesday, introducing her “Let Them Build” agenda that includes “a series of common sense reforms” to the state’s bulky State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) process.
