The attempts which are made to establish the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, are akin to launching quests to capture a will-o'-the-wisp. There are always vast, elusive, gray areas.

Most students have taken multiple choice tests. While only one of the options is accepted as the correct answer, others may contain a modicum of truth.

Benjamin Franklin said, "Half the truth is often a great lie." And Alfred North Whitehead wrote, "What plays the devil in human affairs is mistaking a half-truth for a whole truth."

So, when an important person makes inane statements before reporters and on television, which are posited as truth, it sends........
