It has been quite long since I learned about ecology or ecological theology. Ecology is a thought that pursues conversion of thoughts from human-centeredness to preservation of life of the natural environment as well as all living beings in it facing destruction of nature. This ecology has been combined with women’s studies or feminist theology and led to eco-feminism or eco-feminist theology. These thoughts analyze and criticize that destruction of nature and discrimination against women are co-related with each other under the patriarchy or ruling system.

Elizabeth Johnson, the pre-eminent woman theologian, made it clear that deterioration of the natural environment is closely connected to marginalization of women and a specific dogma of Christianity in her book "Women, Earth, and Creator Spirit." Johnson points out the system of dominant thoughts of the West dubbed hierarchical dualism.
