What to expect of 'Trump 2.0' America-first trade policy

The U.S. Republican Party has recently made public its party platform in the run-up to the presidential elections in November. In its preamble, the party platform states that pursuing "America First" is "returning to common sense" and in line with U.S. national interest since it will restore the nation and "make America great again."
The platform specifically offers 20 promises that are centered around the themes of inflation and economic policy, industrial and trade policy, migration policy and border measures, foreign relations and domestic social and cultural issues.
Among the platform agenda, trade-related issues are mentioned under the chapters that address policy measures to make the American economy the greatest in history and to protect American workers and farmers from unfair trade. According to the party platform, the America-first economic agenda to be pursued under "Trump 2.0" will be comprised of slashing regulations, cutting taxes, securing fair trade deals, ensuring reliable and abundant low-cost energy and championing innovation. In particular, Trump's America-first trade policy will be comprised of measures that counter against "countries that cheat" and will prioritize American producers over foreign outsourcers. It also aims to bring critical supply chains back home, protect U.S. producers and renegotiate failed agreements.
