Finland's cultural tradition

When President Moon Jae-in and Finnish President Sauli Niinisto met at a recent summit in Helsinki, the two agreed to establish a direct flight route between Busan and Helsinki.

Since 2008, Finnair has been operating the nine-hour route between Incheon and Finland's capital, which makes it the nearest European destination from Korea.

I have fond memories of Finland ever since I joined the first commemorating celebration of the National Day of Finland, held at the Scandinavian Club in the National Medical Center in Seoul in December 1973. The event was hosted by Kim Jung-mu, a retired general who was chairman of the Korean-Finnish Association.?

Among the attendees was the Finnish ambassador to Japan and Korea. At that time, the Finnish ambassador to Japan served concurrently as the ambassador to Korea since Finland did not have an embassy in Korea. Only a handful of Finnish people lived here.

Since then, I have felt attracted to and been interested........
