Many benefits of speedy divorce laws

Are you thinking about divorce? Is anyone you know thinking about divorce? If your answer is yes, you are in the right place.

In late December, I received an email from U.S. Census Bureau, introducing me to a study made by Ms. Misty L. Heggeness on the upside of speedy divorce laws. Ms. Heggeness is a principal economist and senior adviser in the research and methodology unit of the U.S. Census Bureau.

To state the conclusion first, when laws make the process of divorce easier and faster, outcomes improve for all concerned, especially homemaker women.

Before I go into to detail about her research, let us first look at divorce rates in selected countries. The World Population Review states that "divorce is something that occurs in nations all around the world." The World Population Review bases the 2019 world-wide divorce rates on the number of divorces per 1,000 residents.

The 10 countries that have the lowest divorce rates are Guatemala (0.4), Qatar (0.4), Peru (0.5), Ireland (0.6), French Guiana (0.8), Malta (0.8), Greece (1.0), Martinique (1.0), Tajikistan (1.0), and Uzbekistan (1.0).

The 10 countries with the highest divorce rates are, in order, Russia (4.7), Guam (4.2), Moldova (3.7), Belarus (3.4), Ukraine (3.1),........
