NIDMS will become next-gen shield against terror: HM

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah today inaugurated the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) of the National Security Guard (NSG) through video conferencing. The event was attended by the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Director General of NSG, Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces, and Directors General of Police of various states.

Addressing the programme, the Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant work has been done over the last six years to generate various types of data and collect it in a systematic manner. He said that NIDMS will prove extremely important in the coming days for investigating all types of terrorist incidents in the country and analysing their various aspects. He added that NIDMS will become the next-generation security shield against terrorism.

The Home Minister said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has generated various types of data in recent years, but until now these were in silos. Efforts are now being made to connect all data sources and develop advanced Artificial Intelligence-based software for analysis.
