Kashmir tourism rebounds on New Year |
Srinagar: After months of uncertainty triggered by the April terror attack in Pahalgam, tourism in Kashmir has made a strong comeback, with major winter destinations witnessing near-full hotel occupancy ahead of New Year celebrations.
Favourable weather forecasts, including predictions of fresh snowfall around New Year, have led to a sharp rise in tourist arrivals from across the country, bringing much-needed relief to an industry that had suffered heavy losses and widespread unemployment in the aftermath of the attack.
Gulmarg, Kashmir’s premier ski destination, is witnessing almost 100 percent occupancy, with hotels and guest houses fully booked for the festive period. Pahalgam, another major tourist hub, has also recorded a significant surge,........
