Moore: Time to start determining the Sixers' playoff rotation

Over the season’s final 27 games, Brett Brown will consider numerous options to fill three or four bench roles for the postseason

With the 76ers a little more than two-thirds of the way through the 2019-20 NBA season, Brett Brown will soon be transitioning from his 10-man regular-season rotation to the eight or nine he’ll primarily rely upon in the playoffs.

Brown, like many coaches, shortens the bench because in a best-of-seven series, the games are so important that you want your best players on the floor as much as possible. Plus, there are no back-to-back sets of games in the postseason.

With that in mind, how should Brown trim his rotation between Thursday night’s first game after the all-star break against the Nets and the April 18 or 19 start of the playoffs? It’s somewhat of a balancing act because the top priority for Brown and the 34-21 Sixers is moving up from fifth place in the Eastern Conference while determining who merits postseason minutes.

Four starting positions — Ben Simmons, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid — are set. Those guys typically play 30-plus minutes per game and are on the court at crunch........
